  • Overview

    The Analyst supports the acquisitions process and the onboarding of single family home real estate assets with underwriting, due diligence, onboarding and reporting. This position also supports the bulk acquisitions of portfolios throughout the markets. The position requires technical aptitude of evaluating data and local market information to conduct financial analysis, prepare memorandums for investment committee, and develop other reports providing insight into key business decisions being made by management. An extensive ability to use MS Excel, along with other MS office products is necessary. This position utilizes analytical skills with the ability to communicate clearly with executive management, acquisitions, construction, property management, closings, and accounting.

    Essential Functions:

    • Conduct detailed analysis utilizing internal and external data sources to assist the Acquisitions Department in the execution of the company’s investment strategy
    • Work with the Transaction Coordinator to efficiently process opportunities from non-MLS channels such as home aggregators like iBuyers, off-markets, and other investment portfolios
    • Complete initial underwriting of portfolio property acquisitions and present investment returns for review
    • Function as the lead underwriter of the bulk acquisitions model and as a resource for the Acquisitions Department as it relates to bulk underwriting
    • Study investment opportunities and research supporting material to develop an investment thesis for presentation to the Acquisitions Manager, the EVP Acquisitions and the Investment Committee
    • Engage and manage the due diligence process for assets under contract
    • Coordinate with the Acquisitions Manager to meet deadlines and standards for accurately reporting financial and operating information relative to portfolio acquisitions, construction, property management and closings
    • Understand and quickly access various sources of data to help isolate and address problem areas, including identifying underlying factors contributing to the problem
    • Maintain a current knowledge of company-wide business processes
    • Maintains working relationships across several departments
    • Prepare PowerPoint presentations for Investment Memorandums, Business Plans, Investors, Market Tours and other requests
    • Create Excel reporting templates using PivotTables, Macros, VBA and other technologies
    • Perform query functions and reporting on an ad-hoc basis through internal requests
    • Maintain, test, and operate Excel models for bulk acquisitions, build-to-rent and new construction.


    • Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in Business, Finance, or related subject)
    • MBA or MRED is a plus
    • At least 2 years of Analyst and Real Estate experience
    • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
    • Previous Real Estate development experience preferred
    • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM preferred
    • Must be an independent self-starter who is self-motivated and has initiative and a sense of urgency
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to distill information down to key points
    • Identify issues and offer solutions
    • Thinks critically and draws well-reasoned conclusions
    • Minimal travel required
