The Manager Accounting - Property Accounting will ensure the timely, accurate, and efficient production of general ledger activity and the monthly financial close process. They will develop effective partnerships with internal departments. They will be adept at operating in high-volume, deadline-driven environments and thrive in an entrepreneurial and rapidly evolving atmosphere.
* Manage the day-to-day functions of the Property Accounting team
* Review workpapers and post entries created by Property Accounting
* Manage the month end close process ensuring deadlines are met
* Initial review of monthly trial balance over assigned areas of revenue, property expenses and capex
* Assist with external financial audit and review supporting schedules
* Review and maintain policy and procedure documentation
* Evaluate team workflows to propose and implement improvements in efficiencies
* Monitor team performance, available capacity, and training needs
* Work with teams on variance explanations and expense reclasses
* Maintain best-in-class quality control, ensuring on-time delivery and report accuracy while identifying opportunities for data quality improvement
* Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/finance
* 3+ years of accounting & reporting leadership experience
* Yardi experience (single-family) preferred
* Real Estate/Property Management experience preferred
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
* Ability to communicate and present data to key stakeholders at all levels of an organization
* Ability to improve and streamline multiple processes across different functions of department
* Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects
* Proven problem solving, analytical, troubleshooting and time-management skills
* Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills; has ability to convey a clear and concise thought.
