Position Summary:
The Lead Data Analyst will be part of the central Business Intelligence and Data Management team that provides data, insights and reporting across Progress and its affiliated organizations. This role is responsible for improving the data modeling to optimize the BI solutions. This role works cross-functionally to understand data needs across different functional areas of the organization and update the BI data model to evolving business needs. The Lead Data Analyst will work towards supporting the Data Governance and improving the data accuracy and quality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Contribute to BI Data Modeling efforts and work to optimize the data structure to meet the evolving needs of the business.
Works closely with Analysts, BI Developers and business stakeholders to understand the organization data needs across different functional areas to improve the BI data model.
Improve the BI solution development and performance tuning of key executive dashboards
Work with business users and stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and translate them into technical specifications.
Support Data Governance by working with data owners/stewards and help improve the data quality and accuracy.
Identify and resolve issues related to BI tools, data discrepancies, and report performance.
Maintain detailed documentation for BI processes and data models
Stay up to date with the latest BI technologies and best practices, and recommend new tools and methodologies to enhance BI capabilities
Help align business and technical definitions of enterprise KPI’s and memorialize the definitions in the enterprise Data Dictionary.
Measure and monitor data quality using specialized tools and best practices to ensure data is accurate, complete and reliable.
Ensure new data ingestion meets the evolving business needs and fits well with the BI Data Modeling needs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, MIS or other quantitative fields
7 or more years’ experience in mining data in analytics and developing reporting using a variety of reporting/analytics software packages with an aptitude for learning new reporting software packages
5 or more years of expertise with BI tools such as Looker, Power BI, Tableau
Expertise with SQL querying language
Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to think creatively and develop new solutions
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) for data manipulation is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage competing priorities & deliverables in a fast-paced, dead-line oriented environment
Strong organizational, problem solving, and analysis skills
Ability to work independently with limited supervision and manage multiple priorities
Able to build strong cross-functional relationships and communicate with various levels of organization with different levels of data literacy.
Experience with process design and implementation
Salesforce & Yardi software applications
Data Architecture
Data management and data engineering,
Data governance or data quality related practices.
Statistical methods
