About the Team and Position

Our Security Operations team is responsible for the prevention and empathetic resolution of any safety or security issues that may arise in our homes.  As the National Investigations Manager, you will manage complex cases and National investigators. You will also assist with Security Operations including physical asset security to ensure the safety and safekeeping of employees, customers, and assets. Possess mastered investigative skills for every type of case type including multiple internal investigations.  You are also a quantitatively driven, detail focused and business-savvy person who enjoys building and developing a team. You’ll help develop innovative solutions and play a meaningful role working cross-functionally to build programs to enhance trust, enable business growth and protect the Progress Residential brand.

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a national team responsible for conducting investigations, which includes positioning the team to be able to quickly take on complex and large projects

  • Provide supervision and direction regarding investigations and investigative resources, techniques, and requirements

  • Not only lead, but also participate with the team and investigate certain matters where appropriate and in accordance with organization needs and expectations

  • Personally triage certain categories of cases (such as fraud prevention alerts), in coordination with internal stakeholders responsible for monitoring and administration of those areas

  • Prepare and review reporting, briefing materials, trainings; effectively use data and statistics for reporting and balancing case workload across team

  • As a part of Security Operations Team, interact and liaise with key internal functions such as HR, Legal, IT Security, Market Operations, Finance, as well as external partner organizations (government, law enforcement)

  • Help with Ethics & Compliance Office training and outreach, stakeholder support and alignment

  • Have a strong understanding of the business and be well connected and closely integrated with all parts of the organization

  • Occasional travel in support of investigations and team management

What You Should Know/have

  • 5+ years of experience in security operations, law enforcement, risk, incident management/crisis response, trust and safety, asset protection or fraud operations roles

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience

  • Experience conducting complex investigations, including but not limited to such work performed as an investigator, attorney, auditor, or data analyst

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and procedures or criminal, policy, and/or administrative investigations

  • Strong interview skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially regarding documentation of gathered facts

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work on projects with minimal guidance

  • Ability to identify operational issues and develop solutions

  • Demonstrated ethics and sound judgment

  • Discretion with respect to sensitive and confidential information

  • Ability to guide, direct, control, mentor, and train less experienced investigative staff

We’d love it if you also have

  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification helpful but not mandatory

  • Bilingual skills are a plus, but are not required

  • Prior law enforcement experience is a plus, but is not required
