Job Profile Summary

The Training Specialist II is responsible for supporting Progress Residential’s business leaders with the design, development, coordination, and facilitation of operational training programs. This position plays a critical role supporting operational leaders in building a High-Performance Culture by focusing on setting up our internal talent for success and ensuring continuous improvement. 

This position is primarily responsible for coordinating all Learning & Development activities and partnering with but not limited to market leadership, the National Property Operations Managers (NPOM), and the Change and Project Management team to help identify and meet both the ongoing training/development activities and performance improvement needs of the business operations function. Finally, the Learning & Development Specialist - National Operations has added responsibility of acting as the first point of contact to operational leaders for pilots, projects, and initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Engage with operational leaders to help identify training and development needs specific to the business function operations.

  • Serve as SME for operational policy, best practices, learning adoption and sustained performance.

  • Coordinate and conduct quarterly/monthly onboarding tasks for all regional/market positions - including general job-specific training.

  • Work closely with leadership to audit behavior and productivity to identify training and performance gaps and conduct one on one or group training sessions to calibrate performance across markets.

  • Partner with National Property Operations Managers (NPOM) to identify skill/behavior/performance gaps within each market and develop training/coaching strategies to further drive consistency between markets.

  • Partner with National Property Operations Managers (NPOM) to train and communicate operational needs, pilots and to assist with supporting Sales and other positions within Operations.

  • Assist with initial onboarding and training of employees in new markets and those acquired through PR3.

  • Identify knowledge and skill gaps related to systems use, including (but not limited to) Margin Point, RenoWalk, SalesForce, Yardi, FieldPro, Dash and Relay, and other job specific platforms in order to create consistency and efficiencies across markets.

  • Act as Subject Matter Experts for new and revised processes (e.g. Dash and Relay for the RTS teams).

  • Provide training and resources to market leadership enabling front line managers to train and coach directly in support of organizational initiatives.

  • Support IT, Learning and Development and Change/Project Management by providing and assisting with on-site training of new processes (e.g. Dash and Relay); and remain as main point of contact for both ongoing and refresher training required for long-term adoption.

  • Provide feedback to Change and Project Management teams related to the performance and behaviors associated with market rollouts and initiatives.

  • Provide initial training and onboarding of Make Ready team members as related to Dash and Relay, and current Turn and Renovation standards.

  • Support the training and onboarding of market specific roles, as necessary.

  • Conduct weekly and monthly webinars with market staff to ensure consistent process and behaviors.

  • Attend quarterly Training Summits


  • 5 - 7 years’ experience in Training and Development

  • 2-3 years’ experience in Multi or Single-Family rentals or operations preferred

  • Experience creating and facilitating content designed to reach adult learners

  • Able to influence without authority

  • Understand how the business works and balance needs of the business with right talent, skills, knowledge and experience

  • Experience in remote learning a plus

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

  • Can handle rapid change

  • Ability to manage and complete multiple projects

  • Attention to detail

  • Exceptional organization and communication skills

  • Has a high level of customer service skills
