Position Summary:
As the Resident Communications Manager for Progress, you’ll be working to support our mission to continuously improve our resident experience by ensuring we have the right voice, tone, processes, and tools in place to effectively and empathetically communicate with our residents. The manager will work cross-functionally and collaboratively with key functions across the company, including marketing, operations, and customer care, to understand the functional business needs for communications and proactively and reactively communicate important information to our residents through multiple communication channels.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled strategic copywriting storyteller with a knack for interpersonal skills and a passion for creating connections and driving positive outcomes through messaging. The role will build a strong culture of collaboration to create communications that inform, inspire, engage, and connect Progress with the residents we serve.
Essential Functions:
Strategic content planning: This role will be the champion of people-centric, results-minded, data-inspired, purposefully-integrated, and famously-creative brand experiences through congruent communications that effectively and consistently contribute to profitable business growth.
Strategic content drafting and execution: Responsible for formulating, creating, operationalizing, and executing a comprehensive resident communications strategy, including the content creation and socialization of website content refresh, monthly newsletters and weekly reminders, editorial calendar and content strategy to better align resident communications across the enterprise. Communications deliverables would include (but not be limited to): resident email templates, SMS messages, FAQs, talking points, disaster response templates, and phone scripts and training aids for call center as needed, and simultaneous multichannel updates when applicable.
Work cross-functionally across teams: Rally the team around a single communications strategy to ensure everyone is working towards shared objectives and creative ideas. Lead content creation and implementation of strategically sound, integrated resident communications campaigns from strategy and brief development through execution and measurement, working closely with cross-functional teams of internal stakeholders and other strategic partners.
Own end-to-end process for resident communications: Implement updated congruent content, measure, track report, optimize, and forecast data to inform concepts, ideas, and plans. Adopt a ‘test-and-learn’ approach, constantly experimenting to see what works, capturing lessons learned and refining/sharpening process + tools. Continually stay on top of relevant market and cultural trends to define communications strategy that challenges conventions and delivers exceptional experiences.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, Business
7+ years of experience in creative/communications roles in property management with direct responsibility for business results and outcomes
Proven track record of motivating and influencing cross-functional teams to work together to achieve positive business results
Mastery of different tools, methods, and techniques for concept creation, idea generation, knowledge sharing, content creation, and collaboration facilitation
Creative affinity combined with strong business acumen that can effectively translate business strategy into communications strategy with fresh, human-centric storytelling throughout multiple channels
Ability to extract the essential meaning of ideas of depth and complexity of operations by leveraging strategic, creative, and analytical skills and simplify
Ability to inspire, lead, and orchestrate diverse network of agency partners to achieve highest levels of strategic creativity
Demonstrated written content or copy creation across website, social, online video, CRM, search, content scripting, content and other communications platforms, or emerging technologies
Deep understanding of communication effectiveness theory and best practices
Deep working knowledge of media channel effectiveness, buying best practices, and measurement.
