Position Summary

The Senior Director Accounting is responsible for leading the corporate accounting function. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to partner with senior management, middle management and staff to identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and overall team capabilities. They will be adept at operating in high-volume, deadline-driven environments and thrive in an entrepreneurial and rapidly evolving atmosphere.

Essential Functions

  • Directs the production and timely distribution of accurate and reliable financial information including, but not limited to, monthly balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and actual to budget and prior year variance analysis.

  • Serve as the lead point of contact for all corporate accounting matters

  • Develop, coach and lead corporate accounting team of approximately 7+ individuals

  • Direct the monthly accounting close process for multiple entities to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent financial reporting across the Company

  • Coordinate and manage the financial statement audits for the management companies

  • Evaluate team workflows to propose and implement improvements in efficiencies

  • Monitor team performance, available capacity, and training needs

  • Identify and prioritize areas for automation and lead the efforts to source and execute solutions

  • Maintain best-in-class standards and quality control throughout the department

  • Interface and work cross-functionally with other departments in the Company to attain Company goals and objectives

  • Partner with property accounting and investment company management accounting functions

  • Directs and oversees implementation of large programs and projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required and CPA preferred

  • 10 or more years of accounting leadership experience

  • Ability to improve and streamline multiple processes across different functions of department

  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects

  • Proven problem solving, analytical, troubleshooting and time-management skills

  • Property Management experience is a plus
