Position Summary:
Progress Residential is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst – Collections to support the Payment and Recovery (PAR) organization. This role will serve as a key finance partner to PAR leadership, providing financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analytical support related to collections and credit loss performance. The individual in this role will be responsible for delivering insights that support operational and strategic decision-making, while also helping drive initiatives to improve collections effectiveness and payment recovery outcomes.
The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical capabilities, sound financial acumen, and the ability to work effectively across functions and with senior leaders. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who is comfortable managing recurring deliverables while also supporting ad hoc analysis and strategic projects.
Essential Functions:
Partner with Payment and Recovery leadership to support the annual budget, quarterly forecast, and monthly outlook processes for collections and credit loss performance
Prepare and maintain recurring financial and operational reporting related to collections, recoveries, and credit loss metrics
Analyze performance trends and key drivers, including detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods
Conduct ad hoc analyses and deep dives to evaluate credit loss performance, identify emerging trends, and provide actionable recommendations
Build, enhance, and maintain financial models to support planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis
Develop executive-level presentations and reporting materials that communicate performance results, business insights, and recommendations in a clear and concise manner
Support cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Operations, and other business partners to align assumptions, improve reporting, and enhance decision support
Contribute to strategic projects and initiatives focused on improving collections processes, payment recovery performance, and overall operational effectiveness
Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, increase data transparency, and strengthen financial support for the PAR organization
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required in a quantitative background: Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science Etc.
5+ years performing analysis by developing queries and extracting actionable insights
Technical:
SQL – develop complex queries for analysis
Excel - proficiency with pivot tables and lookups
Python – manipulate data frames and apply functions
Strong verbal, written, and visual communication
Demonstrated track record of prioritizing, multitasking, and managing multiple projects/assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
Adept at gathering, aggregating, cleaning, and validating data from multiple disparate sources
Strong problem solving skills and ability to “think outside the box”
Inquisitive mind and desire to learn
Prior experience in Credit Policy/Pricing Analysis
Experience developing executive presentations to recommend strategic decisions
Consulting experience
Model Development/Monitoring and/or Statistics: Regression Analysis, Machine Learning, Hypothesis testing, and actual-to-predicted performance monitoring of models developed
