Position Summary:
The Senior Systems Engineer position delivers superior hardware and software support to the Progress Residential corporate office and field office locations. The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for supporting teams and programs for systems engineering design, analysis, planning, implementation, troubleshooting, enhancements, and complex systems or networks.
Essential Functions:
Leads the day-to-day operational support for server, storage or network infrastructures.
Design, implement and manage data center and cloud infrastructure.
Design of automation solutions to include hardware platforms, services, and operation systems.
Develop, support, maintain, and troubleshoot scripts in Microsoft Windows operating environment
Experience in programming with modern scripting languages, specifically PowerShell
Builds, patches, tests (check for compatibility issues, conducts QA) and deploys complex systems and platforms meeting business’ needs and specifications.
Leads in planning and implementing changes to infrastructure with the goal of enhancing performance.
Experience in Endpoint services with Microsoft Intune and client management platforms such as SCCM
Assist in administration and testing of device management capabilities in Microsoft Intune and design, configure and deploy Microsoft Intune related products
Experience in Office 365, Networking, DNS, DHCP and Active Directory
Performs complex storage and server data backup, data migration and disaster recovery operations.
Performs complex software and operating system upgrades and track system licensing.
Configures system security settings or access permissions for groups and individuals.
Provides technical support (help desk) to users by troubleshooting problems related to network or platform performance.
Documents complex procedures and troubleshooting procedures related to systems/networks software and hardware.
Leads the configuration and maintenance of office and/or production software, adjunct support and/or utility software, i.e. Virus malware protection, office application suites and/or application software.
Works with Business Applications, vendors, consultants, contractors, and IT personnel.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma required, Bachelors or similar working experience required.
10+ years of experience building and supporting highly available infrastructure (systems and storage) at scale in a fast-paced environment.
Experience developing system designs and architectures.
Experience with performing requirements development and management
Experience with developing systems engineering plans.
Proven experience and attitude around providing outstanding customer service.
Availability to work after-hours when necessary for applicable maintenance tasks.
Effectively present information to employees, customers and top management.
Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines.
Able to promptly answer support related email, phone calls and other electronic communications.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.
Experience with hardware and software issues.
Ability to learn and adopt new tools, techniques to increase (infrastructure and solutions) performance, automation and scalability.
Knowledge and familiarity of the windows operating systems.
Knowledge and familiarity with Apple systems for iPads.
May require some travel to field office locations, estimated at 10%.
