Position Summary:

You will provide strategic leadership and direct oversight to the corporate accounting and controllership organizations while leading policy transformation.
 

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the month end close and preparation of consolidated financial statements, including periodic reports delivered to the Company’s investment manager and lender, and any associated internal control processes

  • Assesses current accounting operations, policies (including allocations) offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes with consultation from both legal and compliance teams

  • Provide oversight and guidance on allocations, technical accounting and control matters related to our financial reporting and regulatory initiatives

  • Ensure rigorous compliance with rules, regulations and requirements related to financial accounting, legal agreements and control matters

  • Prepare, manage and lead efforts related to the Company’s annual audits (including 401(k))

  • Coordinate and work closely with FP&A team to analyze results vs. budgets & reforecasts

  • Train and develop accounting leaders and staff to meet financial and accounting initiatives and close timelines

  • Partner with information technology organization to ensure that company has the appropriate IT infrastructure to meet its accounting and financial reporting requirements effectively and efficiently

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (required)

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration (required)

  • CPA (or equivalent) designation (required)

  • Experience with Yardi Voyager (preferred)

  • 15+/- years of financial (US GAAP), technical, and management accounting experience in a public company and/or Big 4 environment gained in a supervisory capacity

  • Real estate / residential / REIT experience is a plus

  • Expert in internal controls over financial reporting and accounting processes

  • Demonstrated ability to lead both initiatives and teams in a fast-paced environment, and to communicate technical accounting requirements and implications to both technical and non-technical audience

  • Experience with financial services and regulated environments

  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and influence senior leaders

  • Strong organizational skills, with a focus on accuracy, detail orientation and the ability to deliver within tight timelines

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

  • Possess the highest level of integrity

  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment

  • Excellent team player
